This is a 1898 Oxydnor Victory cure all device in original box and blue cloth storage bag with seldom found 120 page manual. Manual is in English and includes many photos from 100+ years ago. The device was advertised to cure nearly any medical ailment. The Oxydonor Quack Device was invented and made by Dr. H. Sanche in Detroit Michigan and was first patented in 1890. It is highly engraved “Oxydonor Victory invented, made & sold by Dr. H. Sanche. Detroit Mich. Patent June 24 1890”. Bottom part of container is engraved “Victory Diaduction Rules of Life”. The Oxydonor, according to the doctor "caused the human organism to thirst for and absorb oxygen, the vitalizer of blood.". The Oxydonor was a sealed metal cylinder containing a stick of carbon, and flexible cord that was attached at end with disc and strap. To initiate the action, the user placed the cylinder in a bowl of cold water and attached the discs to wrist or ankle with an elastic strap. The machine supposedly removed oxygen from the water and forced it through the "myriad pores" of the body. The Oxydonor was touted as the "new lifesaver for self-treatment". Fortunately, in 1915, exposure by the Journal of American Medical Association and action by the postal authorities were instrumental in controlling Sanche. The Post Office issued a fraud order against his device and denied Sanche's company use of the mail. It stands 5” tall. Box is 5.50” x 3”.
