This is the rare Boyd’s Battery Pendent Advertisement Trade Card. Boyd’s Battery was a series of discs made of copper, brass, nickel & other metals that claimed with the electrical positive & negative charges would cure all diseases. It was to be worn around the neck for cure all diseases, especially various rheumatic conditions (It was a Quack Device of the Period). This is the seldom found advertisement trade card for the quack device. Dr. Boyd’s 1878 advertised claim was “The Blood is the Life. An astounding discovery”, “Accomplished at Last, The efficiency of electricity”, “For all diseases wear the Battery around the neck”. He once published an inch-thick book on his galvanic battery made up entirely of testimonials. Battery is in excellent condition as is Card Condition is very good. Size: 3” x 4.5” inch. This is a rare treasure that will highlight any collection of old medical equipment of 125+ years ago.
