This is the very rare and seldom found Boyd’s Battery Testimonial Book 1st edition with an actual Boyd’s Battery Pendent and Advertisement Trade Card from 1878. Book shows some top wear, but over all in very good condition and copyright 1879. Battery and card are in excellent condition. Boyd’s Battery was a series of discs made of copper, brass, nickel & other metals that claimed with the electrical positive & negative charges would cure all diseases. It was to be worn around the neck to cure all diseases, especially various rheumatic conditions (It was a Quack Device of the Period). This is the seldom found 245 page Testimonial Book, rare actual original battery pendant with rare advertisement trade card for the quack device. Dr. Boyd’s 1878 advertised claim was “The Blood is the Life. An astounding discovery”, “Accomplished at Last, The efficiency of electricity”, “For all diseases wear the Battery around the neck”. Very rare testimonial book size is 6.5” x 4” x .50” with 245 pages in very good condition. Battery pendant is in excellent condition in 1.25” diameter and Trade Card condition is excellent condition in size: 3” x 4.5” inch. The combination of book, pendant and trade card is seldom found and a first to be found by our antique store. It will highlight any collection of old quack medical equipment of 125+ years ago.
