This is the rare and famous Boyd’s Battery Pendent, consisting of a series of discs made of copper, brass, nickel & other metals that claimed with the electrical positive & negative charges will cure all diseases. This treasure is attached to a Gold colord watch fob. It was to be worn to cure all diseases, especially various rheumatic conditions. J.C. Boyd of New York patented his device in London on January 17, 1878. Dr. Boyd’s 1878 advertised claim was “The Blood is the Life. An astounding discovery”, “Accomplished at Last, The efficiency of electricity”, “For all diseases wear the Battery around the neck”. He once published an inch-thick book on his galvanic battery made up entirely of testimonials. Condition: very good. Size: 1 1/4 inch in diameter and watch FOB is 10” in length. This is a rare treasure that will highlight any collection of old medical equipment of 125+ years ago.
