Price $

350

This is a Sundial and Compass in boxwood with inside ornate paper covers to show time and direction.  This dates to late 1700s to very early 1800s.  It provided compass directions and sundial would tell the time in major cities worldwide (backside paper cover has many cities).  There would have been a pin with string to place in a point of time or direction.  Note – this string is missing, but could easily be replaced.  The compass is in good operational condition with original glass top.  These rare time & direction instruments were essential for early travelers.  The wood case folds up to slip into pocket.  Size is 3” x 2” x 1”.  The needed sundial string replacement would be adjusted to reflect time in current major cities based on compass direction.  The wood base & paper shows some age.
